EVIDENT AI INDEX FOR BANKS

October 2026

Now in its fifth edition, the Evident AI Index for Banks is the global standard for measuring AI maturity across 50 of the world's largest banks.

This year, AI deployment across the sector moved nearly three times faster than in previous years, the fastest pace since the Index launched. Yet leadership has stayed remarkably stable: JPMorganChase, Capital One, and RBC remain the undisputed top three, and every bank in the top 10 has placed there before. But behind the top leaders, the race is tightening.

As the focus for banks moves from building AI capability to scaling it, the bar for AI leadership is rising. The next phase will be won by banks that can prove what AI delivers and govern it at scale.

METHODOLOGY

The Evident AI Index is an "outside-in" assessment based on public data. It combines extensive manual research and automated data capture from company reporting and a range of third-party data sources. It is built with input from leading subject matter experts in financial services, technology, and benchmarking. 

The Evident AI Index for Banks ranks 50 of the world’s largest banks across North America, Europe and selected Asia-Pacific markets. Each entity is assessed on 70+ individual indicators across four pillars of analysis:
